About BPMJS

Bedkashi Pathorkhali Miloni Jubo Sangha (BPMJS) is a youth-led organization founded in 2000. We focus on climate-vulnerable coastal regions, actively addressing poverty and social injustice.

Our motivation stems from the need to uplift marginalized voices and foster sustainable development in our community, ensuring a better future for all.

Organizational Background

Bedkashi Pathorkhali Miloni Jubo Sangha (BPMJS) is a non-political, non-profit, youth-led social development organization working in the highly climate-vulnerable coastal region of Koyra Upazila in Khulna District, Bangladesh. Established in 2000, BPMJS was founded with the vision of mobilizing local youth to respond to the critical socio-economic and environmental challenges faced by disaster-affected communities. Over the years, the organization has evolved into a strong community-based platform dedicated to improving the lives of farmers, fishers, Indigenous groups, forest-dependent households, persons with disabilities, women, youth, and other marginalized populations living on the frontlines of climate change.

BPMJS operates across Uttar Bedkashi, Dakshin Bedkashi, Koyra Sadar, and Maharajpur Unions—areas repeatedly exposed to cyclones, tidal surges, river erosion, salinity intrusion, and livelihood insecurity. Through volunteerism, community mobilization, and collaborative action, the organization works to address poverty, social injustice, gender-based violence, and limited access to essential services such as education, health, WASH, and disaster preparedness.

The organization is officially registered with the Department of Social Services and the Department of Youth Development. Its activities are guided by an 11-member Executive Committee and a 25-member General Committee, ensuring inclusive representation of women, men, youth, Indigenous peoples, and persons with disabilities.

For more than two decades, BPMJS has been implementing initiatives in livelihood development, vocational training, climate-resilient agriculture, environmental conservation, youth empowerment, human rights protection, community health, anti-drug campaigns, and social harmony. The organization also plays a critical role during disasters by supporting emergency response, relief distribution, and community-based preparedness.

Driven by transparency, integrity, and community participation, BPMJS continues its mission to build a just, safe, and climate-resilient coastal community where every individual—regardless of identity or socio-economic background—can thrive with dignity and opportunity.
